Fall Chinook Salmon Fishing
November brings the rain and we start to fish the Elk and the Sixes River systems. This is fall Chinook fishing at its finest. Bright chrome, just in from the ocean King Salmon. These are small rivers with big fish. We never fish more than about 10 to 12 miles from the ocean, so there are days where you are literally catching salmon that were in the ocean the day before. Limits of fish are common. For these salmon, techniques include conventional gear, back bouncing shrimp and eggs, running bait-wrapped Kwikfish, and bobber and eggs. We also do some fly fishing for the big salmon if river conditions are right.
