Spring Chinook Salmon Fishing
Spring Chinook from the lower Umpqua are one of the most sought-after fish on the Umpqua system. They are some of the finest table fare that you will find anywhere. The fish average 20 pounds and there are 50+ pound fish caught every year. This is a fishery that requires patience, but when the fish come they are lots of fun. Not only are they great table fare. but they are strong, hard-fighting fish. We will sit on anchor and wait for the fish to come. Often this is a time of year that we will fish for the spingers; and if the fishing is really slow, we can go after the Smallmouth Bass in the afternoons.
